From BNC file A4B: Sport material from _The Independent_, electronic
edition of 10 Oct 1989

00353 "in being mismanaged" -> "is being mismanaged"

00381 The dash after "unsuccessfully" seems to be intended to show this
word as an interpolation, and ought therefore to be balanced by a dash
before the word; but this correction has not been made.

00384 In the BNC file, this entire sentence is repeated after the
by-line "By FRANK KANE", and before the <ediv1> mark (with a note that
a photograph appeared after the second copy of the sentence). If this
is taken at face value, it means that a news item consisted in its
entirety of a copy of the headline (and a picture). That seems implausible.
More likely, surely, is that the by-line was followed by a fuller story
which the headline summarized, but the BNC compilers have somehow replaced
the fuller story with a copy of the headline. Whether that is the
explanation or not, there seems little advantage in the LUCY Corpus having
an identical copy of the same sentence, so the whole of the second copy
(s-unit 00386) has been eliminated.
